For my Ex- And men like him

I find men to be like squirrels and me more like a tree

Looking to make the home in me

Sometimes I let them hoping he find more use for me

But men are like squirrels

And I’m nothing but a tree

So I stand firm in spot where you planted me

Hoping

you return as a tree

And simply take root next me

And we just grow old

together

Our root intertwined

under the meadow greens

But instead, you rather be a squirrel

And just run across my branches quickly

Crack you nut

Get your shade

I find men to be like squirrels

and me --- like a tree

I don’t know maybe one day I’ll become the squirrel

He’ll become the tree

I’ll leave him standing there ---waiting

for me

And when they count this trees many rings

Maybe he’ll know how it feels to be

left

standing

Waiting

Planted

Like a tree
